Message for Seminole County Voters

Here's a message from Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Mike Ertel, regarding Florida's presidential primary:

This morning the state’s Presidential Preference Selection Committee set the Florida Presidential Preference Primary for January 31. 

 In Seminole County, all polling locations will be open for the election, and early voting will take place at the county libraries in Casselberry, Lake Mary, Longwood (Wekiva) and Oviedo, as well as the elections office in Sanford.  Early voting will take place from January 21-28 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. 

 Voters who had received absentee ballots in the past are encouraged to check Seminole County Election’s special website www.TrackMyAbsentee.com to see if their absentee ballot request has expired.  Voters may also request an absentee ballot from that same site or via phone 24-hours-a-day at 407.585.VOTE (8683). 

 Voters who have moved into the county since the last election may update their address by January 3 at www.VoteSeminole.org. 

 Supervisor of Elections Michael Ertel says, “the date of the election will in no way affect the way any voter casts their ballot in Seminole County, nor will it in any way diminish the importance or power of their vote in the process.”  Ertel adds, “the penalties folks may hear about relate to the attendees of the political parties’ nominating conventions that you see on TV in August.” 

 Florida is a closed primary state, so voters who wish to cast a ballot for the Republican primary elections must be registered Republicans, and voters wishing to cast a ballot in any potential Democratic primary must be a registered Democrat.
