Reactions to Obama's Jobs Speech

Last night, President Zero gave a campaign speech jobs speech. I've collected the reactions of several Republicans to our Teleprompter-Reader-in-Chief ordering Congress to "pass this bill right away!"

Read and watch the videos, after the jump:

$800 billion didn’t create jobs, how is $447 billion going to create jobs?

Adam Hasner Statement on President Obama Job Address
Last night, President Obama had the opportunity to demonstrate the leadership that America desperately needs by proposing a realistic plan to create jobs and get our economy growing again. Instead, he proposed nearly $500 billion in deficit spending with no real explanation of how he plans to pay for it. After almost three years of broken promises and half-hearted 'pivots,' the American people had hoped this was the moment the President would rise above election year politics and provide real solutions. Unfortunately, all we heard was a repackaging of his already failed policies that have led to the worst prolonged unemployment in America since the Great Depression.
Americans aren't looking for Republicans to simply split the difference with Democrats; they are looking for honest and forthright leadership that isn't afraid to make the tough decisions. From true tax reform, to eliminating job killing regulatory burdens, to expanding domestic energy production, to repealing Obamacare, these are the proven common-sense ideas that will grow our economy and put people back to work. The American people deserve courageous leadership and once again President Obama failed to provide it.

Disappointing to say the least. Small ideas, tweaks and more govt picking winners and losers. And we'll pay for it later.Thu Sep 08 23:43:21 via Twitter for iPad

Have to say, Pres telling supercmte to find a way to pay for his spending plan is not leadership. Wants 2 hand out goodies, but not pain.Fri Sep 09 00:59:31 via Twitter for iPad

Saint Petersburg Times | The Buzz Blog | Florida reacts to Obama's jobs speech
The President offered mountains of new spending and then told the American people we can figure out how to pay for it later.  He threatened to hike taxes on America’s job creators at a time when our economy can least afford it.  And he spent just a few short sentences discussing the job-crushing impact of government over-regulation, but then failed to provide solutions to eliminate the uncertainty that these regulations have created.
I’ve joined my House Republican colleagues in offering several proposals to improve conditions for job creation and jumpstart an economic recovery.  I stand ready and willing to find common ground with the President once he presents a plan that rises to the historic level of the economic challenges we face.

Scott called on Obama to send to Congress free trade agreements with Colombia, Panama and South Korea "for immediate ratification, with no strings attached:"
Miami Herald | Naked Politics | UPDATED: Gov. Rick Scott prods Obama on free trade agreements
For the past several years, U.S. companies, including many in Florida, have paid well over $3 billion in tariffs to Colombia and Panama for the privilege of exporting American products to those nations.
Many of those dollars could have gone a long way toward more American jobs if President Obama had sent those agreements to Congress and pushed for immediate ratification. Leadership from the President on this is long overdue.
Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain responded to President Obama's speech on jobs tonight, saying:
We waited 30 months for this?
[Seriously. The Cain campaign sent out a press release that only had those two lines. Pretty awesome]

Statement from YRNF Chairman Lisa Stickan:
Barack Obama has been president for two and a half years, and his policies have failed the American people. In a speech to Congress, he gave a campaign speech offering no new ideas and more of the same status quo policies. To pay for his failed policies, he demanded that Congress find cuts, another example of failed, "pass the buck" leadership. President Obama has no vision, no policies, and offers no hope for the American people. After four years of not listening to the American people, they will have their say in November 2012, when the Young Republican National Federation will help elect a Republican President.
