Unbelievable

So, I've been working on a long list of really great posts, and you'll see them over the next few days, but I got tied up with an unbelievably weird problem today...

Someone stole my name. Seriously.

An out-of-state campaign consultant who worked briefly with me on a campaign last year put up a website for his alleged consulting company (I say "alleged company" because I cannot find record of it actually being incorporated) and listed my name as being an election law attorney with his company. He also stole the name of another consultant friend of mine, and the vast majority of his "past client" list belonged to us, not him.

I'm not quite sure what sort of mental quirk makes someone think they can steal the name of an attorney - especially one who works online as much as I do - and not expect consequences. Anyway, the miscreant has taken down the website for now. I'll let you be the judge of the trustworthiness of someone who would completely lie about who is associated with their company.

I'm not going to post his name or the name of the website because I don't wish to help him get any name recognition, but just wanted to post something publicly to make it very clear: I have my own company and do not work under any other company's name. No one has the right to use my name or take credit for my work. "Sarah Rumpf" is a really unique name and I'm the only Sarah Rumpf in the entire country who is an attorney. There is no chance of mistake or confusion. What happened today was flat out theft of my name, my work, and my reputation, and I will not tolerate it.

If you see my name listed on any website other than CaffeinatedCampaigns.com, please let me know so that the smiting may commence.

...except when lawyers smite people, it's not this cute.
