Fox News just announced that Governor Rick Perry will announce today that he is dropping out of the presidential race, and that he will endorse Newt Gingrich.
This follows Tuesday's "sorta-kinda-almost" endorsement from Sarah Palin, and coming just two days before the South Carolina primary, it may be enough to bump Gingrich up to a victory in the Palmetto State.
UPDATE: Here's a post from Unlikely Voter with a summary of the latest polls in South Carolina.
Also, a post by Perry supporter Aaron Gardner at RedState.
UPDATE II: Sad graphic at FoxNews.com:
Added benefit for Gingrich: the buzz over Perry's announcement may steal some thunder from ABC's interview with Gingrich's second ex-wife airing tonight.

My fingers remain crossed for Newt.
